Cleveland Metroparks is the “Emerald Necklace” of Cleveland and have 19,000 acres of parks for visitors to enjoy!

Buckeye Trail - This 1,435 mile trail was first established in 1959 to create a trail that goes from the Ohio River to Lake Erie.  The Buckeye Trail now not only encircles the State of Ohio, but touches all four corners too.

 Ohio Department of Natural Resources

O.D.N.R. is responsible for the preservation, management and wise utilization of our state’s natural assets. One of the largest and most diverse agencies in state government, the department includes 5 offices and  13 major operating divisions. The Department's mission statement is clear: "To ensure a balance between wise use and protection of our natural resources for the benefit of all".

Division of Parks & Recreation

This division operates Ohio’s 74 state parks which offer a variety of facilities including lodges, cabins, beaches, golf courses, campgrounds and hiking trails.

It’s objectives include the acquisition, development, management and promotion of these parks. State parks mission is "To provide an outdoor recreational experience for Ohio State Park visitors that exceeds their expectations".

Ohio State Parks V.I.P.

 

All throughout Ohio, hundreds of individuals are giving a part of their free time to help make Ohio State Parks the number one park system in the United States. All of these volunteers are part of the “Volunteer-In-Parks” (VIP) system. The VIP system groups all of these volunteers together with a common goal, to assist each park’s staff by helping them beautify maintain and promote their park.   Cleveland Metroparks

The 14 reservations of Cleveland Metroparks and Cleveland Metroparks Zoo consist of over 19,000 acres of various landscapes and attractions for the park visitor to enjoy. The park district is commonly referred to as the “Emerald Necklace” because the reservations encircle the City of Cleveland.

 

Buckeye Trail

For nearly 1435 miles, the Buckeye Trail winds around Ohio, reaching into every corner of the state. From a beachhead on Lake Erie near Cleveland, to an hilltop overlooking the Ohio River in Cincinnati, a hiker can experience a little of all that Ohio has to offer

Edgewater Park
